Utilising the on-campus track and benefiting from a strong link with Mayo Athletic Club, this club caters for whatever its members require- whether it’s a leisurely lunchtime jog or a strenuous supervised training regime - all levels are catered for so you can gently improve your fitness or aim for national competitive honours.
There are many intervarsity competitions in athletics including the road relays an exciting and highly competitive relay race, the indoor and outdoor track and field events and of course the ultimate athletic test of them all cross country. Athletics is unique in that all GMIT campuses will be competing as teammates under a one United GMIT team.
Athletics can prove quite useful for those involved in the Gaelic and soccer clubs as-well as the outdoor education students. You will find in no time that your game will improve greatly due to the new found level of fitness you have gotten from the athletic club.
