The GMIT Engineering Society is a student-run organization at Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology, supported by GMIT staff and industry experts, aimed at promoting engineering and cross-disciplinary collaboration on campus through mentorship activities, community building, professional recruiting, and collaboration.
Throughout the year we are planning to invite a series of speakers from industry and academia, which will give students insights into careers and a chance to network with potential employers. Furthermore, we aim to organize discussion meetings, go through topics of interest or analyze engineering-based videos, and/or share our knowledge with other students. Once sufficient numbers of students will be interested, an engineering design competition will be held.
Undergraduate students are given the opportunity to gain real-life experience, as well as theoretical knowledge in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM).
